This is post 2114 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. In part two of his Random Wire antenna project, Paul (OM0ET) finishes the 9:1 balun and proceeds to test the complete antenna system on the air.  Here are some of Paul's observations: "This is the following video of the Home made Random Wire Antenna with 9:1 UnUn. I did make a few modifications on it. Used enclosure/box source link: https://www.tme.eu/en/katalog/#id_cat... Here is the link to PART 1: https://youtu.be/2M9Aep6DHz8 I will very appreciate if you will support my work and you became to my patron on Patreon ;-) https://www.patreon.com/om0et Thank you very much for watching my videos! 73 Paul OM0ET" ---------- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these websites: http://www.HawaiiARRL.info. http://www.arrl.org....

Thanks to Paul (OM0ET) for this excellent, informative, and concise antenna project. If you follow Paul's simple instructions, you'll have a dependable HF antenna for both portable and  home use. In part 1, Paul designs and assembles the basic random wire antenna.  In part 2, he tests his antenna on the air.  A well-done effort! Here are some of Paul's observations: I made the HF multiband Random Long Wire Antenna with UNUN 9:1 (my toroid T130-26 from an old PC PSU) publicated by VK6YSF on his website here: https://vk6ysf.com/unun_9-1_v2.htm In the second part of this video you will see the practical test of this antenna in a real outdoor conditions with QSOs on 40m band QRP with Xiegu X5105 transceiver and 5W only. - follow link to this antenna after modification PART 2: https://youtu.be/9wgdhi__MlU JOIN TO OUR NEW HAM FORUM:...

QRP Dummy Load With Power Measurement. Post 2112.

If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9FLgWoyfsY. Every ham shack should have a "dummy load" to test transmitter performance off the air. Although there are many dummy loads available pre-assembled and in kit form, you may elect to design, build, and test your own "phantom antenna." In this video, Randy Hall (K7AGE) shows us how to build a simple, QRP dummy load with only a few parts.  Randy's project is patterned after the popular Elecraft DL-1 Dummy Load. According to Randy, this device is "a simple QRP Dummy Load that's good for up to 20 watts.  It even has a test point to measure the voltage needed to calculate the power of your transmitter." Randy provides a list of materials, assembly instructions, and testing procedures needed to build and use this useful tool. ----- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these web...

Thanks to VE3BF for uploading this informative, well-produce video on how to make an efficient long wire antenna for radio amateurs. If you follow the steps outlined in this video, you'll have an excellent HF antenna suitable for both home and portable us. Here are some notes that will help you with this project: "A DYI long wire antenna project using a 9:1 un un. Wire chart: http://www.dxsupply.com/produktfiler/... Multi-Band HF Fan Dipole Antenna Construction

If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT1kSQjQIkM. This is post 2110 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. How would you like to build a multi-band HF antenna without the use of an antenna transmatch (i.e. "tuner")?  You can if you create what is called a "Fan Dipole Antenna." In this short video, Alex (KD0YNH) and Corey (M0ECK) take you step-by-step through the basic theory, design, construction, and testing of this versatile HF antenna. Using Alex's and Corey's simple template, you'll have an antenna that covers the 80-40-20-15 meter amateur radio bands without the use of an antenna tuner. This antenna is cheap, easy-to-build, and can be used in a variety of configurations, such as an inverted V or a sloper. ----- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these websites: http://www.HawaiiARRL.info. http://www.arr...

Ham Radio - The Doublet antenna, QSOs and observations.

If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sli_OXoOugM. This is post 2109 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. This intriguing, informative video from Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW) is part 2 of his experimental All-Band Doublet Antenna. In part 1, Kevin designed the antenna, selected his parts, and began assembling the doublet. In part 2, Kevin finishes his doublet antenna and tests it out on the air.  He makes several international QSOs, including one from Cape Town, South Africa.  Here are some extra notes from Kevin which may help you decide to build this multiband dipole antenna: "Thoughts and observations after using the doublet for awhile. Plus a couple of QSOs, one of which was stellar. Original design and build video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tA4lo... This is post 2108 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. One of my favorite multiband HF antennas is the classic "All-Band Doublet."  The antenna is a basic 1/2 wave length horizontal dipole fed with balanced feedline going into a "balanced antenna tuner." In this video, Kevin Loughnin (KB9RLW) begins a two-part series on the theory, design, construction, and testing of this versatile, easy-to-make antenna. In part 1, Kevin looks at the antenna and its design before building the antenna.  In part 2, Kevin finishes construction and tests the doublet 's performance on the air. Here are some of Kevin's observations, along with links to helpful resources: "One of the antennas I've wanted to play with for awhile. In this video, we look at the antenna and it's design, and then my build of th...
