The Coat Hanger 10 Meter Vertical Antenna.
Radio amateurs have used a vast variety of materials for HF/VHF/UHF antennas. I've seen antennas made from a variety of metals, as well as those using salt water and wet trees as the radiating element. In this video, Scott (WX0V) created, built, and used a metal coat hanger to make contacts on the 10 Meter Amateur Radio Band. Although I've used metal coat hangers to make field expedient antennas for the 2 meter and 70 cm bands, I haven't seen one built for 10 meters. Scott does an excellent job of showing us how to make a 10 meter antenna from those often unused hangers in your closet. Does it work? According to Scott, this antenna performs well on 10 meters. Why not experiment with this idea? The experience could be fun and you will learn a bit more about emergency antennas.
