Here's an interesting, but hard-to-perfect switchable array for phased vertical antennas. This design has been used by commercial medium wave radio stations to protect other stations on the same frequency. In this video, Callum (M0MCX) discusses the pros and cons of this antenna design which needs particular attention to detail.
