This is post 2120 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas. Thanks to "ColdestMoon" for this simple and safe way to erect a fiberglass mast. Here's what he says about the mast erecting procedure: "I show how easy it is to erect a mast suitable for ham radio antennas on your own using only 3 guy lines and a fibreglass pole. Its a bit windy, and apologies for the audio quality." Once you get the three guy wires set and anchored, all you have to do is "walk up" the mast and adjust the guy wires. It would probably be a good idea to have one of your fellow radio amateurs help you erect the mast. As the video shows, strong gusty winds can complicate the process. --------- For the latest Amateur/Ham Radio news and information, please visit these websites: http://www.HawaiiARRL.info. http://www

Often the most difficult and somewhat dangerous tasks of erecting a HF vertical antenna is placing the mast correctly, securing the guy lines, and maintaining stability of the mast until you're ready to test your new antenna. In this video by "ColdestMoon", we see an efficient, quick, and safe method of erecting a vertical antenna mast using a telescoping fiberglass pole, a few lawn anchors, and three strategically placed guy lines.  Don't be afraid to ask for help if your project needs an extra hand. Placing your ham radio antenna atop a mast can really boost your your antenna performance, especially if you're using a small yagi beam. In this video, "ColdMoon" shows how he erected a mast by himself using 3 guy lines and a fiberglass pole.  While this arrangement works, it may be safer to have a friend help you, in case there is a problem.
