If you need a quiet, easy-to-make HF antenna, then this delta loop project from Callum McCormick (M0MCX) may be what you need. The delta loop antenna can be configured to favor horizontal or vertical polarization.  If you feed the antenna with twin lead into a balanced antenna "tuner", you will get multi-band HF capability.
