  A tilt-over antenna base is often a necessity for radio amateurs living in deed-restricting housing or for protecting your vertical antennas before a storm or high winds affect your area. Here are a few comments from Callum (M0MCX): Cheapest Tilt-Over mechanism you can find. Strong, brilliant and available anywhere in the world! If you went down this route, the hinge point needs to be slightly higher off the ground so that when your antenna, (say DX Commander) is layed down, the ground and driven plates (SO239 etc) have some room.
