 If you want to improve the DX performance of your 17 meter (18.068-18.168 MHz) vertical antenna,  please try this design from Brian (ZL3XDJ).

In this video, Brian makes a simple DX antenna using elevated radials.  This modification to the basic vertical antenna lowers the radiation angle of your signal and reduces significantly the number of radials needed for your antenna system.
