Long Wire Antenna Build
If you need a simple, inexpensive, and easy-to-make HF receive antenna, nothing beats the "classic" long wire antenna.
In this video from Jez (2J4EZ), we see how ordinary materials from around your ham shack or home can be transformed into a basic long wire antenna.
Although I've been a radio amateur for 48 years, I've always had a "soft spot" for short wave listening (SWL). My homebrew long wire antenna, paired with an old Hallicrafters SX-62A receiver, has given me hours of enjoyment, especially on the MW broadcast band.
If you want some fun exploring the MW and HF spectrum, just build a long wire antenna similar to Jez's.
