 You can make an effective HF antenna from mobile antenna parts, such as the popular "Hamstick" monoband elements.  

In this video, Walt (K4OGO) shows us how to use "Hamsticks" in various configurations to make either single-band or multi-band HF antennas.

These antennas are perfect for portable operations or for limited space areas.
