Here's another great, easy-to-make HF vertical antenna project from Walt (K4OGO).
As Walt states, this antenna is a basically "hack, wack, tape, and get on the air."
Most of the materials for this simple vertical antenna can be found at the nearest hardware store or building supply outlet. Online sources can also be used if supplies aren't available in your area.
