Build your own Slim Jim Antenna for the 2 Meter Ham Radio Band.

Here's a simple, inexpensive, and fun-to-make 2 meter "Slim Jim" antenna for home station use or for field operations such as POTA (Parks on the Air) and SOTA (Summits on the Air).

According to Mike (K8MRD), this basic roll up 2 meter antenna is ideal for emergency and portable operations, and can be a worthy addition to your "go kit."

This is a really easy, fun antenna to build. If you are new to Amateur Radio, or just want an easy to deploy 2 Meter antenna for out in the field, this is a great project. Here is the link to the antenna calculator I used. Be sure to scroll down a bit to see the diagram of the 70 MHz Slim Jim constructed with 450 Ohm Balanced Feeder.
