Build a Portable Hexbeam Antenna

Image
If you want to experiment with some unusual antennas, please consider this "hexbeam" antenna from Cliff of "QRPSchool.com." Cliff takes us through the theory, design, construction, and testing of this fascinating antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPGMepI5hrI Here are some comments from Cliff: In this video, I show the portable hexbeam antenna I recently built. I tell you about the components that are required for you to build one. You can decide whether or not it's worth the trouble to build and deploy. How to make a doublet antenna for ham radio hf bands

Image
The "classic" doublet multiband HF Antenna is one of the most popular antennas for radio amateurs.  The antenna is efficient and easy to make. In this video from Callum (M0MCX), we get a simple, step-by-step lesson on how to design, build, test, and use this versatile antenna. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLGtz5Px6g0 Here are some comments from Callum (M0MCX): Ideally suited to operators with a good quality ATU system, a doublet offers an all-band-solution to HF but will need re-tuning each time you change bands. Enjoy. Callum. DX Commander. More videos: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc... Antenna Modelling https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc... Tips and Tricks https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc... A Super-Duper Tiny 3D-Printed HF Radio Antenna

Image
If you enjoy building end-fed halfwave antennas, then this simple project from Gil ("Radio Prepper") will prove most useful. In this video, Gil shows us how to build a 64:1 transformer for end-fed halfwave antennas.  The process will go faster if you have access to a 3D Printer. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6er591dwtl0 Here are some comments from Gil: Yes really! The Half-Wave End-Fed is my favorite antenna and for good reasons. Here I build a very small 64:1 transformer in a 3D-printed case, with a description of the design. Worth watching until the end ;-) Note that a 64:1 is better for lower bands, say 30m and below, while a 49:1 is better for upper bands. With such a small toroid, better use three turns primary for either, otherwise, for an FT-140-43 or bigger, if you want to go up to 6m, use two turns primary (14 total). https://www.buymeacoffee.com/gilg 3D file: https://www.t...

How to make a simple RF choke--home made project

Image
Thanks to Paul (OM0ET) for this useful antenna accessory--a home made RF choke. Paul takes us step-by-step through the design, construction, and testing phases of this kit. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browsers search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe8JrF-poiA. Here are some comments from Paul (OMET): This simple RF choke is my recent home made project. This choke I will use with my HEX BEAM antenna. It's very easy to build it. Simple Mobile HF Antenna | K7SW Ham Radio

Image
Many radio amateurs enjoy portable or field operations with their mobile HF antenna systems.  The key to these easy-to-carry antennas is a sturdy, weather-resistant mount for the various masts and wires associated with mobile operations. In this video from K7SW, we see one mobile installation that is perfect for remote locations.  This installation could also be used in small backyard or gardens. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhvzj_VSj3M Here are some comments from K7SW: This is a top favorite antenna mount system for me. I have installed these mounts on each vehicle i have owned over the years. For those times when you just want to operate from your car or truck, and you need a fast setup, these mounts provide results This installation is on a Jeep and very flexible to use. Thank you for asking me to share this mount Andrew. Using the links below to purchase items in the vid...

Build random wire end fed antenna and make amazing contacts.

A properly designed and built end fed random wire antenna can be an excellent antenna for both home and "field" use. In this video, Michael Martens of KB9VBR Antennas shows us how to build and test one of these versatile HF antennas. If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_-aNzrIXWs Here are some comments from Michael (KB9VBR): Can a non resonant antenna be efficient? It sure can. I show you how to build a non resonant random wire antenna with a 9:1 transformer. FT-140 43 mix Ferrite Toroid: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...
