If you want a simple, inexpensive, and easy-to-build HF antenna for both home and portable use, then this "L Dipole Antenna" from Johnny (W5KV) is what you're looking for.
In some ways, this antenna resembles the popular "Inverted L Antenna", but with a top loading wire replaced by near ground counterpoise wire.
Johnny says the antenna works well despite its simplicity.
