According to Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW), you can learn a lot about antennas with some simple experiments.

In this video, Kevin compares the performance of an end fed halfwave sloper antenna with a conventional flat horizontal dipole antenna.

Each antenna has its advantages, depending on the space available, ground conditions, deed restrictions, and local interference levels.
