This is post 2490 in a continuing series of simple ham radio antennas.

Thanks to retired electrical engineer David Casler (KE0OG) for this excellent tutorial on radial ground systems for vertical antennas.

Although there are vertical antennas that don't require a radial system (i.e. half-wave verticals), most quarter-wave vertical antennas require a good ground radial or elevated counterpoise system to operate efficiently.

David discusses radial systems in a direct, laid-back approach that removes much of the mystery surrounding "the missing half of a vertical antenna."
