If you want a basic two-element curtain array, try this "Lazy H" antenna from Hiram Vazquez.
The "classic Lazy H Antenna" consists of two horizontally-polarized dipole elements which, under excellent conditions, can deliver up to 3.42 dBd over a standard dipole antenna.
