Thanks to William Reed (K7NXT) for this easy-to-follow guide to making a 40 Meter Magnetic Loop Antenna.
You should be able to find most of the materials in your shack or at the nearest building supply outlet or hardware store. Also, you'll need some basic tools to assemble the antenna. You may have to search online for the capacitor.
Here are some general comments from William:
Antenna designed for minimal size and portable use at 7.2 MHz (40 Meters). It can operate close to the ground when vertical as shown here. It does work horizontally, but requires some distance from the ground to radiate efficiently.
