You don't need a complex antenna system to operate in the field.  As Peter Marks demonstrates, all you need is some wire for your favorite bands, a 6 meter/19.68 feet "squid pole", and your HF go-kit to get on the air from your favorite park, beach, or campsite.  In this video, Peter erects a simple inverted vee using a suitable length of wire, a telescoping fiberglass rod, and an aluminum ground stake to complete his antenna system.  Please note the simplicity and organization of his go-kit, especially the presence of the outstanding Elecraft KX3 transceiver.  Make one of these antennas for portable or emergency use and put it in your vehicle.  The antenna is easy to put up and take down.
