Here's a simple fan dipole antenna project from Ms. Sarla Sharma (VU2SWS) of Bombay, India. Note the particularly excellent feed connection for this uncomplicated, inexpensive antenna that can be made from locally available parts. If you only want to operate on a few amateur radio bands and don't have access to an antenna transmatch (i.e. "tuner" or "coupler"), then the easily made fan dipole may be what you're looking for. Mount the antenna as high as possible for best results.
