It may be wise to make several versions of this simple, inexpensive antenna for portable or emergency operations. Kevin Loughin (KB9RLW) does an excellent job of creating an emergency antenna from coaxial cable. The antenna is easy to build and uses a minimum of tools. The antenna can be designed for your favorite amateur radio bands and stored in your vehicle or shack when you need to get on the air quickly.
