Here's another great, inexpensive, and simple antenna for those living in deed-restricted properties or active in portable/emergency operations.

In this article by WB5CXC and W5WR, we get a complete, step-by-step tutorial on how to build this antenna that covers all amateur radio bands between 40 and 6 meters.  According to WB5CXC, the antenna is an inexpensive, end fed antenna that measures 30 feet/9.146 meters, and can be used with wires as short as 17.5 feet/5.335 meters.  Of course, performance will improve with longer wire lengths--just be sure to avoid 1/2 wavelength or multiples of 1/2 wavelength on the frequency of your choice.  The article provides helpful photographs, suggested lengths, a full list of materials, and a few hints for successful operation.

The key to the antenna's success is a matching network consisting of a 1:9 UnUn trifilar wound transformer using a T 106-2 iron torroid coil. The coil matches the 50 ohm feed line to the high impedance of the end fed antenna. The antenna can handle 100 watts without problems.  Be sure to use an antenna transmatch ("tuner") to keep SWR at the lowest possible level.  The antenna support is a MFJ-1910 telescoping fiberglass mast that extends to 33 feet/10.06 meters.  The mast can be raised and lowered in less than 5 minutes.  This antenna would work well in HOA/CC&R situations where rapid deployment and lowering are a must.
